Collagen Biostimulators Explained: Gouri vs Planiti

2 min read

From our mid-20s, collagen production gradually slows down, and skin starts to lose firmness, density and definition. Collagen biostimulators are injectable treatments that encourage your skin to make more of its own collagen, so results build gradually and look natural.

How biostimulators work

Instead of filling an area straight away, a biostimulator is placed in the deeper layers of the skin, where it triggers your body's natural healing response. Over the following weeks and months, this stimulates new collagen, supporting firmness, skin density and structure.

Gouri: liquid collagen boost for the whole face

Gouri is made from polycaprolactone (PCL), a material that has been used in medicine for many years and is gradually absorbed by the body. Unlike most biostimulators, Gouri is a fully liquid, particle-free formula, so it spreads evenly through the treated area. It doesn't aim to add obvious volume. Think of it as a collagen boost for firmness, elasticity and skin quality.

  • Great for: loss of firmness, fine lines, crepey skin and early laxity on the face or neck

  • Options: Gouri Essential (1 syringe per session, ideal for one area) or Gouri Full Face (2 syringes per session)

  • Treatment plan: 3 sessions, 6-8 weeks apart

Planiti: restoring structure and definition

Planiti is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulator. PLLA has a long track record in aesthetics. It's made of tiny particles that stimulate collagen where they're placed, which makes it well suited to gently restoring lost structure, such as hollow temples, flattened cheeks or a softening jawline.

  • Great for: loss of definition, hollowing, volume loss after weight loss and lower-face laxity

  • Treatment plan: 3 sessions, around 4 weeks apart

  • Aftercare: gentle massage at home for a few days afterwards, which I'll show you, to help the product settle evenly

  • Longevity: PLLA results commonly last up to around two years, though this varies between individuals

Gouri or Planiti?

  • Gouri: if you want firmer, better-quality skin without added volume

  • Planiti: if you've lost structure or definition and want it gently restored

Good to know

  • Results build gradually over around 2-3 months, so it isn't an instant fix, but the results look like you

  • Some swelling, redness or bruising is common for a few days

  • Unlike hyaluronic acid filler, biostimulators can't be dissolved, which is why a thorough consultation matters

  • Pay per session, or pay for the 3-session course upfront and save
